OUR STORY
The name Waran is inspired by a unique Japanese orchid—one born from the fusion of a native Japanese variety and a European orchid through careful cross-fertilization. This blend of influences embodies the spirit of East meets West, a philosophy reflected in every Waran product.
AT THE HEART OF WARAN IS ITS FOUNDER, KONDO (PICTURED), A JAPANESE ARTISAN WHO METICULOUSLY HANDCRAFTS EACH SAUCE IN MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA.
Kondo’s roots trace back to Tsukiji, Tokyo, home to one of the world’s most renowned fish markets—a bustling epicenter where flavors, textures, and culinary traditions converge. His family has operated a market stall there for over a decade, developing an expert understanding of umami (savoriness) and koku (rich depth of flavour).
Waran is more than just a collection of sauces, marinades and dressings—it is a tribute to Japanese heritage, expertly woven into rich, flavour-packed sauces that elevate both modern and traditional cuisine.
